Your catalog, audited through Arbyn's eyes

A read-only audit of your products, collections, locations, and shipping profiles, flagging exactly what's missing that would help Arbyn answer customers better.

Written by Joseph

Arbyn already reads your live Shopify catalog automatically, you don't upload products separately. This page exists for a different reason: to show you exactly where your catalog is missing something Arbyn would use to answer a customer better, and to link you straight to Shopify to fix it.

What it does

Four audits, one for products, one for collections, one for locations, and one for shipping profiles, each pulling live from Shopify and flagging specific gaps: a product with no description, a collection with no image, a location missing an address, a shipping profile with no rates set up. Every flagged row links straight to that item in your Shopify admin.

Where to find it

Knowledge → Catalog.

How it works

Products. Lists your active products and flags any missing a description, tags, vendor, product type, category, a variant, a sales channel, or an image, since Arbyn genuinely uses each of these when answering a customer (a missing image, for example, means a customer asking to see a product gets a blank card instead of a picture). Clicking a flagged row shows exactly what's missing for that product; a View in Shopify action opens the real product for editing.

Collections. Flags any collection missing a description or an image, or with zero products actually assigned to it, useful for catching a collection page that would confuse a customer if Arbyn ever pointed them to it.

Locations. Shows every fulfillment location on your account, whether it's active, and its address. A location missing an address or marked inactive is flagged, since Arbyn's shipping and local-pickup answers depend on accurate location data.

Shipping. Shows your delivery profiles and, for each one, the zones and rates actually configured underneath it. A profile or zone with no rates set up is flagged, since that's exactly the kind of gap that would leave Arbyn unable to answer "how much is shipping to this address" accurately.

Everything here is read-only and lives in Shopify. None of these four pages let you edit your catalog directly, they're an audit, not a management tool. Every flagged issue links straight to the real product, collection, location, or shipping profile in your Shopify admin, where the actual fix happens. Once you've made the change in Shopify, it's reflected here automatically the next time you load the page, since it's read live rather than cached.

Good to know

  • This is diagnostic, not editable. Fix a flagged gap in Shopify itself; this page exists to show you where to look, not to make the change here.

  • Every audit reads live from Shopify. There's no separate sync step, refresh the page after a Shopify edit and the audit reflects it immediately.

  • Only the fields Arbyn actually uses are checked. Fields Arbyn never reads for a customer answer (like SEO metadata) are deliberately left out of the audit, so a flagged item is always a genuine gap in what Arbyn can say, not just an incomplete Shopify listing in general.

  • A missing image is a real gap, not cosmetic. Arbyn shows product images directly in chat when helping a customer browse or add something to their cart, so a product with no image genuinely renders worse for a shopper.

FAQ

Can I edit a product's description directly from this page? No. Click View in Shopify on the flagged row to make the edit in your actual Shopify admin; this page only shows you what's missing.

Why is SEO metadata not checked here? Because Arbyn never uses SEO fields when answering a customer, so flagging them here would just be noise unrelated to what actually affects Arbyn's answers.

How often does the catalog audit refresh? It reads live from Shopify every time you load the page, so any change you make in Shopify shows up the next time you open this audit.

Does a flagged shipping zone mean my shipping is broken for customers? Not necessarily, it means that specific zone has no rates configured, which is worth checking. If that zone genuinely has no customers shipping there, it may not matter in practice, but it's flagged either way so you can make that call yourself.
