How Arbyn's Sales skills work

A guided tour of the Sales page, the catalog of revenue tools Arbyn can use inside a conversation, and how the numbers on each card are actually calculated.

Written by Joseph

Arbyn does more than answer questions. With the right setup, it can offer a discount, put together a bundle, run a short quiz, or suggest an add-on, all inside the conversation a shopper is already having. The Sales page is where you turn each of those abilities on and set the rules for how it behaves.

What it does

The Sales page is a catalog of sales skills, each shown as its own card. A skill stays off until you configure it: create a discount, build a bundle, write a quiz, or set up an upsell rule. Once it's live, Arbyn decides on its own, in the moment, whether a skill fits the current conversation, and brings it up without you needing to script anything turn by turn.

The way to think about it: your skills are the offers you've made available. Rules decide when a skill is allowed to fire (a minimum cart total, a returning customer, a specific product in the cart, and so on). Guardrails, configured separately in Settings, decide how far Arbyn can go on its own with anything money-related. The two work together without stepping on each other, because each one controls a different decision: what's on offer, versus how far Arbyn can act alone.

Where to find it

Go to Sales in the left navigation. It opens on a grid of skill cards, each one a shortcut to its own setup page.

How it works

Five sales skills are live today:

  • Discount offers: pre-approved codes Arbyn can bring up in conversation and apply straight to a shopper's cart when the moment calls for it.

  • Bundle builder: multi-product bundles Arbyn can assemble and add to the cart in one tap.

  • Product quizzes: a short set of questions that narrows your catalog down to the right product for a shopper, or hands out a reward based on how they answer.

  • Chat upsell: add-on suggestions Arbyn makes after something lands in the cart, with an optional discount to sweeten the offer.

  • Revenue attribution: which conversations led to which orders, and how much of that revenue is traceable back to a sales skill.

Tap any card to open its own page. Each skill has its own setup, but they share the same underlying shape: you decide the offer itself, the conditions under which Arbyn may bring it up, and, where it applies, how many times it can repeat the same offer within a single conversation so nothing feels repetitive to the shopper.

About the numbers on each card

Discount offers, Bundle builder, and Product quizzes each show a small count, like "3 active." That number is deliberately not a row count. It's how many of what you've created Arbyn can actually act on right now:

  • A discount is counted only when it's genuinely live in Shopify (not expired, not scheduled to start later) and you've turned it on for at least one place Arbyn can show it: chat, the widget's Perks page, or both. A discount you built but left switched off everywhere isn't counted, because Arbyn would never bring it up.

  • A bundle is counted when it's active.

  • A quiz is counted only once it's actually gone live, which itself requires the quiz to be complete enough to give every shopper a real result. Arbyn won't let you activate an incomplete quiz, so an active count never overstates what shoppers can actually do.

Chat upsell and Revenue attribution don't show a count on their cards. They're a rules surface and a reporting surface rather than a catalog of individual offers, so a count wouldn't mean the same thing there.

The principle is consistent across the whole app: the number you see is the number Arbyn is actually working with, never a raw tally that quietly includes things it can't use yet.

Good to know

  • Sales skills are available on every Arbyn plan. Upgrading only changes how many conversations you have room for each month; it never unlocks a feature the free plan didn't already have.

  • A skill you leave off, or leave unconfigured, simply never comes up. Nothing shows to a shopper until you switch it on, and there's no default set of offers Arbyn invents on its own.

  • Conversation volume and revenue totals live on Reports and inside Revenue attribution, so the Sales page itself stays focused on the skills, rather than duplicating numbers you can already see elsewhere.

FAQ

Why does a card's count look lower than the number of things I've created? Because the count only reflects what Arbyn can actually offer right now. Anything expired, scheduled but not yet started, or switched off in every channel is deliberately left out. Open the skill's own page to see and manage everything you've created, active or not.

Do I have to set up every skill? No. Each one is independent. A store that only wants Discount offers, for example, can leave Bundle builder and Product quizzes completely untouched, with no effect on the rest of the app.

Will Arbyn ever offer something I haven't approved? No. Every discount, bundle, quiz, and upsell rule Arbyn can bring up was created and turned on by you. Arbyn never invents an offer, a code, or a product recommendation for a sales skill that doesn't exist in your setup.

Where do I see how much revenue a sales skill has driven? Open Revenue attribution from the Sales page. It breaks down which conversations led to which orders and attributes the revenue back to the skill (a bundle, a discount, an upsell, or a quiz) that was involved.
